En iniya blogging makkalae! I’m alive and kicking, but just about. Life has been so hectic the past few weeks that I never got around to blogging. A tag and a post update are pending, and I feel suitably ashamed for sitting on them, genuine excuses notwithstanding.
I’m here now with a request. My son is giving his 10th board exams from tomorrow. I know I’m supposed to say exams don’t matter, 10th boards is now immaterial, I’m cool, etc etc etc.
The truth is to me it matters a little. I want Paiyyan to do well. So please pray for him. When you next happen to bow before your respective gods, spare a microsecond for my son also. Please.
There’s a request number two as well. When the results are out, please don’t ask me about it. If Paiyyan gets reasonably good marks I’ll probably write a dozen posts on it. On the other hand, if I claim a writer’s block for a while in May-end, you can guess why.
Good luck paiya! Go rock the board exams.
Note to mom:
Your son is not defined by his marks. Success in life is NOT proportional to the mark he scores. Marks might help, no doubt, but that alone isn’t important. Talking from my experience.
Thank you, Ashwin.
All the best !
Thank you!
All the very best to Paiyan. When I was in 10th, my parents did nt care a hoot. But it was important for me and my self confidence. So heres to Paiyan. May he do really well!
Thank you! Yes, my good scores in 10th changed my life at a mental/emotional level. Thanks for understanding.
Hope your Paiyan comes off with flying colors. All the best to him and will surely include him in my prayers.
I pray very rarely, but I am sure God will listen to me as he must be bored of people who pester him everyday
That’s an interesting POV
Thank you!
All the best! To you and him. But I have to add my tenth board marks don’t matter a bit today!
Thank you! These days 10th marks do matter somewhat — quite a few higher studies institutions and corporates are looking at consistency of performance from 10th onwards. But I’m more concerned about the boy’s morale than the marks themselves.
All the best for your ‘paiyyan’…
Don’t put pressure on yourself, your son or your ummaachi…
Sure!
daaaayyyy!! edraa aruvaaale!!
rest assured, ur son gonna score 1.5 times what he was earlier destined to score (though ofc, i cannot say how much that is, due to confidentiality clauses coming in the way)
Make it 2 times, no…
All the best to your son!!!
Thank you!

hi.. i’m a committed atheist and praying for your son will be fundamentally against my philosophy. but dont worry.. neenga “oon”nu oru vartha sollunga. papers correct panra teachers a naa correct panni (pay-off or threat of physical violence) unga family honor a kaapathidaren..
and to be honest, i cleared my boards a mere 5-6 (fuck, time flies) years ago. i can guarantee you the 10th marks is of little consequence. except probably to change schools if you are planning to do so.
Oon! Sollitaen
No change of schools. Too much of a bother.
